amysterybanana asked: If you want to read classics, it might be easier to start with more.. cheery ones :P The Great Gatsby is great and not too long, A Christmas Carol if you fancy something lighter and shorter, Wuthering Heights if you want Romance, Jane Eyre is my personal favourite... but anyway- 1984 is not an easy book to read, especially if you've not read a lot of classics, so don't feel bad- I've never read it 'cause I find it depressingly pessimistic :P There are some far better classics out there :)
Waaah! Thank-you :D I have a book blog where I do ‘theme’ months, and I chose 1984 because I wanted to read a classic dystopian lol. I might just leave it for now, because I haven’t read many classics and you’re right, it’s pretty hard going! I’ll look into some of the ones you’ve suggested :) xx

The Handmaid’s Tale- Margaret Atwood is dystopian, but (I think) so much better :P Not sure how much it classes as ‘classic’ but it’s certainly in the literature canon now :) What’s your book blog if I can ask? :) xx
