amysterybanana replied to your post: If you want to read classics, it might be easier to start with more.. cheery ones :P The Great Gatsby is great and not too long, A Christmas Carol if you fancy something lighter and shorter, Wuthering Heights if you want Romance, Jane Eyre is my personal favourite… but anyway- 1984 is not an easy book to read, especially if you’ve not read a lot of classics, so don’t feel bad- I’ve never read it ‘cause I find it depressingly pessimistic :P There are some far better classics out there :)
The Handmaid’s Tale- Margaret Atwood is dystopian, but (I think) so much better :P Not sure how much it classes as ‘classic’ but it’s certainly in the literature canon now :) What’s your book blog if I can ask? :) xx
My blog’s called Karla Reads, it’s mainly Young Adult stuff because that’s what I enjoy reading the most. But I’ve been trying new things lately so that might change soon :) I read Cat’s Eye by Margaret Atwood in university for my English Free Elective and really enjoyed that, so The Handmaid’s Tale might be one to look at - I actually already own it as well so that’s a plus haha! xx
